Sunrise Birdwatching Boat tour Lake Hennessey
Repeats Sunday 11am and 1pm.
Nestled in the hills of north-east Napa County is Lake Hennessy, a man-made reservoir that is possibly the best year-round birding spot in the county. Approximately 2 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, the lake is home to hundreds of species of resident and migratory birds. Aboard an electric-motor launch you will gain a different perspective of Napa Valley’s birds and peer into their secret life by exploring this hideaway mountain lake with an experienced guide. This is a two-hour cruise. Potential sightings include: bald eagle, osprey, woodpeckers, towhees, nuthatch, sparrows, wood ducks and many more. In particular, it is at this time of the year that we have observed the western grebe performing the “rushing ceremony” that has been highlighted in the movie “Winged Migration”. Plenty of free parking. Space is limited to 8 passengers. No children under 12 please. Please be prepared for very basic bathroom facilities. Reservations are required $55, and can be made at 707-224-9080. Use code [HEN1] when making reservations. (www.napariveradventures.com)
