1pm-4:30pm, Skaggs Island’s Hawks

Repeats Saturday 8am and 1pm and Sunday 8am
Dick Ashford, field trip guide

Longtime Festival guide Dick Ashford is returning to lead our visits to one of the North Bay's premier hawk wintering grounds. Numbers vary every year, but in a "normal" year we should be well rewarded. In our previous 5 years, we have observed 19 species of raptors on this small property! Expect a variety of buteos, including Red-tailed, Ferruginous, and Rough-legged Hawks. In addition, Skaggs’ festival outings have observed 4 species of falcons. Golden Eagle is a distinct possibility. Anyone for Short-eared Owl? 2006 bonus: Dick will attend a raptor workshop in Montana (brrr!) just prior to the festival and will share some “enrichment material” on the tour.

READ THESE GUIDELINES BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THIS OUTING:
 • $25 per person fee–refundable only if you showup!
 • Once inside the gate, it will lock with no early departures.
 • Carpooling required.
 • The outing is not appropriate for young children.
 • AND, there are NO restroom facilities, and we don't even get near vegetation for a couple of hours (coffee drinkers beware!).
